ABSTRACT:

Characterizing low biomass tumor-associated microbial communities has proven to be challenging. Traditional whole tumor DNA extraction methods copurify host DNA which can negatively impact 16S rRNA amplification efficiency and bias results. New DNA isolation approaches that target low abundance microbial DNA are needed to better characterize the tumor microbiome.
